You can do an Academic Qualification like a Diploma or a Degree
OR
a professional qualification life BCS, MCSA etc.
1st decide on the area you like to study. (Like Fazaal said)
Then ask from a professional organisation like SLIIT, APIIT, ACBT, NIIT, NIBM.

If you mean IT as in subjects related to Computing.. there are many!
I think rather than people telling you what's best for you.. you have to find out yourself what is your passion!
Ok! you now decided you wanna choose IT because maybe you like IT from other industries.... likewise in IT there's more industries too in itself...
So you have to a bit of research in each... Like mainly.. Programming, Software Engineering, Animation, Graphic Designing, Networking etc.. etc...
So do a bit of research and see what do you like most, but make sure no one force you to choose because if you don't like what you do then there's only nightmare ahead for you!
