Afternoon Evening Night ?

[eyepea]

Hi Hi,

Can you please tell me the correct times to use greeting like
Good afternoon
Good evening
Good Night

ok ok afternoon is after noon, i.e. after 1200 hours.

Question 1:
but when does afternoon end and evening start ?
4pm, 5pm, 6pm, some other time ?

Question 2:
Also When does evening end and night start ?
6pm, 7pm, 8pm, some other time ?

Question 3:
When you meet someone you say good morning, good afternoon, good evening etc. (well some say good noon too ).
But say you meet someone at 10pm or 11pm, do you say good evening or good night ? If it is good evening, is 10pm or 11pm still evening ?

Well this questions may sound bit funny and some of you may answer in real funny way

But seriously, am interested in the general time zones to use the term afternoon evening and night.

Any help is much appreciated
