Sri Lanka Air Force fires at a suspicious air craft - Katunayake

Sri Lanka Air Force has engaged its air defence weapons at a suspicious air craft observed in the Katunayake sky short while ago.

The suspicious air move has been detected by the air defence radar around 10.45 p.m

The air defence weapon systems have been activated targeting the suspicious air craft in order to avoid possible terror air raid at the Air Force camp. The Air Force sources further conformed that no air raid has taken place and the Air Force base is safe.

Air Force activates Air Defence System on an Information about a Suspicious LTTE Air Craft

KATUNAYAKE: ON AN INFORMATION ABOUT A SUSPECTED LTTE AIR CRAFT coming from north, Air Force personnel at KATUNAYAKE Air Force base activated the Air Defence System.

But no air craft move or attack occurred.

During this period the KATUNAYAKE International Air Port was temporarily closed for civil air craft movement.

Now the air port is functioning as normal.
