Does anyone know how they calculate air ticket cancellation price?

I booked 2 tickets from Findmyfare in 2 different occasions and cancellation fee costs me almost close to the ticket price.

Usually airlines don't refund flight ticket price. They only refund airport tax amount. That's why you end up getting only about $50 as a refund for $300 ticket

Refund is base on the package you purchased and how many days you took to cancel
In sri lankan Air line, if your cancel with in 24hrs of booking you will get 100%... if later 70-80% you will get
last week i cancel cmb-kul flight after 3 days of booking and got 71% refund

It's based on the "fare rules". You have to check before you purchase what the conditions are.
If you need to change then buy a higher priced Flexi fare. As someone correctly commented you get the tax part refunded.

SriLankan Airlines now offers first change of booking for free. Two weeks before I changed dates of Melbourne flight without any additional cost. But the things is that you will have to pay the additional amount caused by the date changes. That means if you are changing dates today, today rates will be applied for new booking. Otherwise no penalty free. But this facility is only valid for tickets booked bought directly from SriLankan Airlines Website.

I just cancelled it, after 3 days from the booking date. refund amount is around 15%
