Ajahn Brahm came from a working-class background and went to Latymer Upper School. He won a scholarship to study Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University in the late 1960s. After graduating from Cambridge he taught in high school for one year before traveling to Thailand to become a monk and train with the Venerable Ajahn Chah Bodhinyana Mahathera.


Ajahn Brahm was ordained in Bangkok at the age of twenty-three by the Abbot of Wat Saket. He subsequently spent nine years studying and training in the forest meditation tradition under Venerable Ajahn Chah.

අජාන් බ්‍රහ්මවන්සෝ මහ තෙරුන් වහන්සේ කිහිප වරක් ලංකාවටත් වැඩම කළා. එහෙම වැඩම කළ අවස්ථාවල උන් වහන්සේ රට පුරා සංචාරය කරමින් භාවනාව පිළිබඳ දේශනා පැවැත්වූවා. අවසාන වරට වැඩිය වෙලේ ආර්ය අෂ්ඨාංගික මාර්ගය ගැන දේශනා පැවැත්වූවා.
බුදු දහම සහ භාවනාව පිළිබඳව උන් වහන්සේ පොත් කිහිපයක් ලියා තිබෙනවා. ආනාපාන සති සූත්‍රය, බුදු දහමෙහි හදවත භාවනාවයි ආදී පොත් කිහිපයක් උන්වහන්සේගේ ශිෂ්‍ය කහවේ අභය හිමියන් විසින් සිංහලට පරිවර්තනය කර තිබෙනවා.

අහල බලන්නකො ඉඩ තියෙන වෙලාවක මේ දේශනා. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් පැයක විතර ඒව නිසා හදිසියට අහන්න අමාරුයි. නමුත් බොහොම ප්‍රායෝගික විදිහට විස්තර කරනවා. ඒ වගේම හුඟක් විහිලුත් කරනවා.
මතකද මම මොකක්ද නූලක කිව්වා රොමෑන්ටික් තැන් කියන්නෙ අඳුරු තැන්වලට, මොකද එතකොට පෙම්වතියගෙ කුරුලෑ පේන්නෙ නෑ කියල? ඒ මේ හාමුදුරුවන්ගෙන් අල්ල ගත්ත කෑල්ලක්.
අජාන් සුමේධොගෙ ඒවනම් ඊට වඩා ගැඹුරුයි.
