Air Force has not seen any aliens

In the wake of unconfirmed claims Unidentified Flying Objects being sighted by people in several parts of the country, a rumour was gaining currency that aliens from outer space were hovering above Sri Lanka, but there was any clear evidence to confirm such rumours, Air Force spokesman, Wing Commander S. Jaldeen said yesterday.
He said that Sri Lanka Air Force had their own air defence system in place round the clock, but it had not detected any such objects coming to Sri Lanka though some people had seen a beam of light emanating from an object as shown on TV.
He stressed that an astronomer and a professor in astronomy at the Colombo University, Chandana Jayaratne had reportedly dismissed such claims by pointing out that lights seen by people emanated from Mars as a result of it orbiting closer to the earth.
The Wing Commander said that steps would be taken accordingly if such object was to land and added that they had not taken any extra effort to identify those lights that appear at night.
However, a large number of people claimed to have seen unusual beams of light in the skies above Hambegamuwa in Thanamalwila and Ihalayagoda in Gampaha on Monday night
