if u just a coder, itz enough AMD................
Intel is not very expensive. In fact, Intel is cheaper.

In the high-end market,
Intel E6600 = US$313
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ = US$439!!!

In the mainstream market
Intel E4300 = US$169 (but way faster)
AMD Athlon X2 3800+= US$129

In the lowend market
Intel PentiumD 805 = US$95 (dual core!)
Athlon64 3500+ = US$85

* All prices from newegg.com

intel: u can overclock ur processor using either inbuilt o such s/ws u get frm around..!! but it doesn't cum overclockd by the manufacturer..

AMD: by the manufacture himself.. the AMD processor's core voltage has been fixed as it has to function as an overclocked processor (to stand the heat n stuff). so AMD comes out from the factory after goin thru da over clockin process.. so it's pre overclokd by the manufacture to it's displayd speed.. besides a sempron 1800+ does not run at 1.8Ghz. it runs a little less dan dat.. n u can only overclck a jump frm around 200-350Mhz max..!
    Hey this is not true.

Every CPU is overclocked, both by Intel and AMD.

    E6600 is an overclocked E6300
    AthlonX2 6000 is an overclocked AthlonX2 5200

What AMD gives is a performance rating, not the actual clock speed. This performance rating shows the clock speed of an Athlon Thunderbird CPU's clock speed needed to match the CPU. Eg: Athlon Thunderbird 2.8GHz = AthlonXP 2800+

But with the introduction of dual core CPUs, this performance rating is outdated. Right now what AMD is using is just a performance comparison between two CPUs. 4800+ vs. 5400+ etc. Latter is better.

The prices are different. But the difference is by a fixed amount most of the times. Such as adding Rs.5000 or whatever to both CPUs.

But what's amazing is that when I bought my E6300, it cost me only Rs.23,500. AthlonX2 3800+, which is much slower was selling for Rs.27,000 and it was even out of stock.

    They were. But not anymore.

In fact, there are rumours that Intel will release Quad Core CPUs for around US$250.
But machan last week I checked at unity. When I considered MB n the processor together, AMD was cheaper. I am supposed to buy a new PC. Can u help me to select the processor?

it's not a rumor.. it's true.. henre in states.!! so wil b for the world market...!! wel they announced it with da launch of Vista..!
No no. The US$266 Q6600 is coming in 3rd Quarter. It was only announced.
Even Intel seems to know that Barcelona will be one hell of a chip. But what happens now is that AMD will increase the prices like hell :( Intel will be cheaper, and most people will still buy Intel even if AMD chips are far better.

Yeah the motherboard is a bit of a bother with Intel. If you are interested, I'll sell my motherboard to you :D

Hehe. Only because it doesn't let me overclock my CPU :(
Intel Classic Series motherboards does not support overclocking.

    Where I'm now
U have to go for an Intel definitely If u r in Lk and planning to buy a CPU.Coz there r no AMD socket 939 or AM2 CPUs or AM2 Mobos available in LK.In Lk Intel will be the best coz of the prices u get.U could hav a Pentium D 3.4 for 21k even frm EPSI.but a socket 939 3200+ would cost u 17k which is useless

wots ur board btw..?? dude wot i belive in is.. if u buy an intel. thr's no need of overclokin n al the extra stuf to squeeze evry bit of pwer it has...

provided dat u use the correct MB with it..!!

if u can spend sme money for the sake of ur pc.. it's always best to get an intel.. cos no matter wot. it's far more reliable than AMD...!!

and that's the probably the best u'd get in SL?? all those DFI lnaparty mobos are very expensive:yes:
No, We can get Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and Asus P5B-E etc. DFI LAN-Party variants are not as fast as these two "monster" motherboards. The price is too high - that's the problem :(

Hey, it's not squeezing more performance. It's virtually DOUBLING performance. If 1.86GHz CPU can be overclocked to 3.2-3.4GHz with NO PROBLEM AT ALL, why not?

BTW, my motherboard is Intel DG965RY. Correct? What do you mean? This is Intel for Intel. The only thing that I'm missing is overclocking features. If it could overclock, I wouldn't look at anything else.

AMD is not any elss reliable than Intel. These are myths.

dats y i said.. if u have money.. it's best 2 go for da real thing..!!
