No industry will sustain its glamor without good competition machan. It will not be any different in Computer Hardware. Have no doubts about that.

Thats why Nvidia gonna buy AMD for cheap if no one gonna buy them.
Just check the AMD's road map for the future. They going to release processor + GPU + Chipset as one solution so it may be no or very less chance for Nvidia in AMD platform. If AMD managed to overcome this crisis and compete with Intel then Nvidia will face major problems.
If Nvidia buys AMD then they can make a monopoly in GPU market and in the same time enter the processor market.

Anyway there are other possible buys too. Samsung, Apple, etc... And who knows the big mighty Microsoft with their interest on hardware market with new additions like X-box and Microsoft Surface. They have money to buy AMD and keep it close for a year too. haha

Microsoft would be interested as the video processor in XBOX is an ATI.

Anyway, Intel is also working on that all integrated CPU + GPU thingy. Wonder who will turn out as the winner.

It's not Intel's fault! AMD was started only one year later than Intel.

Besides, AMD's embedded processors are doing well afaik.

What you say is true competition is good for the consumers, BUT how did AMD come to the scenario? they offered competitive technology @ competitive prices, they fought neck-and-neck with Intel and pushed them up against the wall all the time.. BUT look now...... ONLY AMD CAN HELP THEMSELVES!!

Consumers will support the solution that's best bang for their buck, world is not the same as it was 10 years back everybody has accsess to information everybody knows what to choose or they have help to choose it for them.. in which ever way consumers are smarter than they were in the past..

SO UNTIL AMD HELP THEMSELVES A BIT BY BRINGING IN A SOLUTION OR TWO THAT BEATS INTEL ON FEW BENCHMARKS AND GAIN TOP SPOT, The average consumer cannot help much!!
