The name Sarath Fonseka is a household word in SL. I don’t need to introduce him any further. But, as my husband I know him better than all. When he carried on his war operations he never allowed that to mix with the household activities. Like he was loving to his uniform and profession, he was also a loving father
Anoma Fonseka , the wife of Gen. Fonseka who was also the President of the Army seva vanitha unit stated this at an election meeting held in support of Gen.’ Fonseka at Aturugiriya . Kaduwela provincial Council opposition leader Priyantha Pathberiya organised this meeting. Speaking further Anoma Fonseka related “he is one person who had always done what he said to the letter. What he cannot he never promises.” It is therefore my firm conviction that how he extricated the country from the terrorists and won the war , he would extricate the country from the monumental corruption and all the evils now plaguing the country and win it over for the people . He is an individual who is prepared to sacrifice even his life for the country . He demonstrated this practically by winning the war even after nearly dying from an LTTE suicide bomber . He survived three attempts on his life still , yet he continued his mission to save the country for the people , and not for the enjoyment , celebrations and luxurious living of the rulers at the expense of the people ,she added.
Some people are bringing false accusations that he would establish an Army rule . Knowing very well of my husband , I can vouch that he never has such aims. His aims are only to save ,secure and protect the country and the people from despotism , nepotism , lawlessness and corruption now practiced by the family rule which is parasitic on the people to perpetuate itself in power.
