Army breaks the earth bunds and enters the no-fire zone; 5000 civilians escape no-fire zone10,000 more queuing to come(Lanka-e-News, April 19, 2009, 11.40 am) Army 58 division this morning captured a three kilometer stretch of the LTTE earth bund in Puthumathalan west that was preventing Army advance. Following the break up, over 5000 civilians escaped from the no-fire zone, said a spokesman of the Media Center for National Security (MCNS) to 'Lanka-e-News'.
Reportedly, the photographs captured by the Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vessels show that around 10,000 civilians are queuing to cross into the Army-held areas.
This morning, around 1000 civilians arrived in Chundikulam area in 60 boats. Further more civilians escaped into the areas held by Army 53 and 55 divisions that have surrounded the no-fire zone.
