ARMY rapid deployment troops on motorbikes overpowered the abduction attempt of a fast speeding van in the general area of KOTTAWA this evening (9) while it was carrying an abducted girl at a break neck’s speed on the High Level road.
Initial reports said the Police following a tip-off received by the Police on 119 alerted the Police and Army troops on duty in the area directing them to pursue the vehicle with the abducted girl. Army mobile troops jumped into action and chased the fleeing van and shot at it. However, when the vehicle continued its tour further, troops opened fire on the driver. The driver however died of gunshot injuries on the spot and the vehicle went off the road and stopped.
The Police have undertaken investigations after the girl in question was rescued.
