RV790 and RV740: AMD shows first details
Hardly any secret is kept as well as the details for upcoming hardware generations. AMD happened to make a mistake so that first details about the RV790 and the RV740 leaked into the web.
On the AMD servers a 3D Center Forum user espied an informative file about the memory assembly of the soon released RV790 and RV740. The information reveals that the RV790 chip will be published as RV790XT card (a retail name is still missing). The card will probably be called HD 4970 but that is only theoretical. The revision number for the chip is A11. The RV790 chip will have access to 1.024 MiByte GDDR5 memory which is supposedly provided by the insolvent manufacturer Qimonda. The already speculated clock speed of 1,950 MHz at 1.5 Volt seems to prove true. The GPU has a speed of 850 MHz at 1.3 Volt - that is 100 MHz faster than a HD 4870. Neither the production process nor the number of the SIMD units is mentioned in the document.
The RV740 chip will be published as a midrange card. The retail name could be HD 4700. This GPU is in the revision A11, too, has a clock speed of 700 MHz and uses GDDR5 memory with 1,800 MHz in sizes of 512 or 1,024 MiByte. The GPU has a 0.9 V voltage and the RAM has the expected 1.5 Volt.

I posted it b4.And the core voltage is going to be 1.3V for the RV790.Now it is @ 1.25V and the memory is @ 975MHz although they are 1GHz chips.That will be 3800MHz effective on GDDR5.
