Sri Lanka is to construct atomic reactors to generate power, exploiting vast deposits of ‘Thorium’ found along the coastline from Beruwala to Negombo as a solution to the power crisis facing the country, Science and Technology Minister Prof. Tissa Vitarana said today.

Whether it is feasible or not is a one thing... but this is one sucsessful method for the energy crisis in SL because as it seems this kind of energy is stable for 1000's of years to billions of years for some isotopes!!

Anyway... it seems it is not as harmful as Uranium (which US go after ) so I dont think its much of a problem!!!

Here's some links for basic understanding!!
