To me, automatic transmission is faster. You can make it manual by controlling the accelerator peddle. A sudden push will drop it to a lower gear and give a nice boost.

Well there are semi automatic guns but haven't heard them on cars.....

Automanual (called triptronic by some manufacturers) is an Automatic transmission. But when you need to you can shift the gears manually (like a clutchless manual trasmission)
