Avoid buying from Barclays!

Same damn thing happen to me. but it's about a RAM. I brought 1GB ram from Barclays @Unity plaza about an year ago. It had & 5 year warrenty Kingstone RAM. It works fine since may 5. suddnly windows & all programs I insalled gives me erorrs. Crashed every 10 mints time. one of EK friend told me that it happens bcuz of RAM Faults. So I Run a mem Test & He was right. So called the barclays & told them my problem. they ask me to come there with Fault giving RAM & bring Warrenty. So I went there & told them my problem. they took my RAM they said they want to test but the RAM disurbuting guy wasn't there & ask me to come next day. They wanna keep it and wanna chekd it wheather it's working or not. so I went there.& They told me that they had repaire My RAM. So i said thx I came home & Repalce the RAM correctly...I turend the power switch "Beep,Beep" Beep continues so i turend off pc & chekd wheather RAM correctly repalced! It's ok. Then I switch on the power But that RAM They said that repaired was junked.
Dumb as*. hmm What to do I called them & told them waht happen to it. You know what they told me. "Sir We DON'T Clame warrenty for Burened items" WTF!

Omg. That is a very bad experience to have. Feels good finally you got the money back atleast. Badu ganna yaddi thiyana salakili naha warranty ganna giyama.

Onetime My one of friend also went to get warranty for his 7600GS vga and after a week they have given him a 7300GT saying 7600GS is not available now.

you are welcome machan. getting a replacement is always depends on how we talk to them!

and im sure that everyone is not capable of doing that. so they have the chance to refuse the majority...

Everybody understand that machines, like everything else can go wrong, and every product has a faulty items, that's understandable.. but you must understand the situation of the customer first!

Customer already frustrated that the product is not working, dragging the giving excuses will only make him more frustrated, look at the excuses they give.... "3D Mark stress test is not acceptable?" what kind of a DUMB statement is that?

All over the world people review this card using 3DMark...

machan its like this...

PC restarting while playing game is not because the VGA card is problematic. So what they have said when u went to technical deivision (VGA is working fine etc etc).. seems true.

The main reason for PC getting restarted while playing games is,

1 - your power supply sucks. It cant give the required power to the VGA & hence pc restarts to avoid damages.

2 - One or more of your PC part is overheating. But since you say in less than 2 mins it happens I really believe its because of the power supply issue

3 - In rare cases it can be the RAM. But if its RAM then the restart should be instant. You wont be able to play for even 2mins.. So its very unlikely the problem is RAM.

The VGA you've bought is EAH4870 which is a very powerful card & requires a whole lot of power. So it's very likely the problem is in your side with powersupply having issues.


p.s. - The reason why it restarts due to lack of power is normally power supplies are cable of little bit of overdrive means supplying a bit more than the rated current. But if its too much then either wires will heat up & melt or something like that will happen.... etc etc..

thanks for the reply machan, but do you really think that they would give me a refund if the fault is in my machine?

they will kill themself, but will not give a cent.

My PSU is 700W FSP and it should be able to run two 4870 in crossfire.

and the next thing is, they tested the card using their own mobo, PSU,, RAM, HDD,etc and their old 15 inch monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution.


next thing is, I ran mem test, then replaced my memory with new sticks. and finally i found the same thing happen with the stress test software. and the same thing happen when they were testing it as well.

These things really piss me off, If I were you I would really have punched on his face, The small shop you are referring is that on the small lane in front of MC right ? and on the left side on that lane ?

an advice : Don't buy High End stuff from Unity plaza shops, If you really need them EPSI is the place for you (prices are high though). That's the place for warranties. believe me

anyways what is your PSU ?

my psu is FSP 700W

Dude thats messedup.Seriously I got a pc for them about 6 years ago.No problem then;however sometime back I swiched to EPSI.You should check with them for a vga cause they are the autherized dealers for ASUS in SL.

Yeah No Errors What so Eva I played Almost Every Game , But They Warranty Support Is Bad my flash drive was dead in abt 1 week after i bought it i sent to them & they say go to Pettah or smwhr & get it from them

anthimata mama refund karagaththa machan. un laga stock ne kiyala kiwwe. eth mata sure un kawadawath refund karana eun newei, unge stock thiyenawa. un sell karanne faulty stock wennathi. they tested another VGA infront of me and it has the same issue. you will not be able to play crisis or any other new games if you buy that GPU from them

PLEASE READ THIS

Avoid buying from Barclays! - this is something happen to me few days back and i thought i should let you know how do these people do their business..

I bought an Asus EAH4870 1G DK graphic card for 39500/= from Barclays. The sales service was very pleasant and informative. I was happy.

After I installed the VGA I tried to play some games to test its performance. I started with crysis warhead. the game was very smoothly running with high FPS under high settings on my 22" monitor with 1680 X 1050 resolution. After few mins, the PC restarted automatically. When ever I try to play crysis, after about 2 mins the pc was getting restarted.

I found that the same thing was happening with NFS Undercover and Furmark stress software as well.

I went to the barclays and they sent me to their technical department,then they told me that they will send the VGA to the place where they bought it from and they will inform me tomorrow after testing the VGA, and they asked me the names of games i've been playing. I gave crysis warhead and undercover names.

Next day: I went to the barclays and they told me that their agent is telling me that the card is working perfectly and they sent me to that place. it was a small computer shop in the lane in the opposite direction of the Majestic City. They were playing Most Wanted when I was going there with a guy from barclays.
They told me that they have played the Most Wanted in the whole night and nothing happen to the VGA.
I told them that they should test it with a newly released game with high settings that could stress the GPU instead of old games. after hours of debating, they agree to run the Furmark Stress test software and the pc crashed after about 2mins with a temp of 76.

The guy was walking in the room here and there while thinking and he was looks like about to kill himself!

and after about 15min he told me that he will give a replacement.

then he went inside the shop and after about 30 mins came back and told me that he cant trust those stress test softwares

and told me that

" we have even already bought a game DVD for rs 250 just to test it and now we cant give you replacement just because it is restarting OCCASIONALLY"

So I have spent 39500 RS and how can I take back that Faulty VGA without asking for a replacement just because he has spent 250rs to test it????

then the guy went inside again and I heard he talking with some people for about 2 hours.

after he appeared with another very old-dirty looking same model GPU and he tested it and showed me that the same problem is happening.

They he told me to take my GPU and go back home since the other one is also faulty, or else he said that he could send the GPU to the Asus corporation in Singapore and it could take few months to test it and send it back!!! WTF!

I said that I cant take a faulty GPU after spending 39500rs and then they told me that they need to test it with the game i played and told me to bring the crysis.

Next Day:

I went to them with crysis, farcry 2, undercover and gave them to the barclays. they said they will inform me the result next day

Nex Day:

Barclays guyz told me that their so called Asus agent has played the game and confirmed that it is working perfectly and they told me to go to that shop and take the VGA back.

I went their and they booted the PC with the VGA hooked up, with a 15inch monitor they fired up the crysis warhead and told me that they have been playing the game all over the night and its working perfectly. and they told that they have finished the game as well..

Then they asked me to play the game, it was a mission to drive a kind of a vehicle and I pressed the arrow keys and drove it. after about 10 seconds, the pc crashed. they asked me to reboot it and play again. and again it crashed in the same way after about 2 mins how do they have completed the game if it cannot be played 2 mins continuously?

after that i went to the barclays and told the story, barclays was supposed to receive a credit order from their agent and i was supposed to receive the refund from barclays. they took that as an advantage and it became an advantage to me as well.. I heard they speak over the phone about getting the refund and then they informed me that they will refund me once their agent refund them.

next day i received the refund. and the barclays told me to bring the all accessories including the polythene bag that the VGA was wrapped. yes! they gonna sell it again


they refunded me because they dont have any more VGA cards or... all of their VGA cards have the same problem.. maybe some faulty stock is brought to SL and selling them ? could be.
