Back to the problem

As they say the guns are silent but the word processors cannot be switched off that "easily". The old adage that the pen is mightier than the sword is reminded again. The ideas are important and we should not forget that Prabhakaran did not take up arms because some arms dealer or KP alias Pathmanathan who had a telephone conversation with Nambiar, the UN official while the latter was in a toilet in the BIA at Katunayake, asked him to do so. Prabhakaran was influenced by the ideas of SJV Chelvanayakam and just as much Angulimala’s teacher is also responsible for the murders due to the former the local Gandhis cannot evade responsibility for the murders carried out by Prabhakaran. The TULF leaders who referred to Prabhakaran affectionately as Thambi and to the other terrorists as our boys were not that innocent and their "sathyagrahas" though claimed to be non violent instigated people to violence and sowed the seeds of hatred.

We are all now in the middle of discussing the so called solution to the ethnic problem. The peace vendors who until the fifteenth of May were campaigning against the "war" have all of a sudden begun to sing hosannas to the soldiers (ranaviruvas). They write articles to the press and give interviews to the electronic media on the sacrifices made by the "ranaviruvas" and claiming of course at the same time what a murderer Prabhakaran was. Of course they end up their articles or interviews emphasising the importance of a political solution meaning devolution of power and ending up with federalism. What is the problem that these peace mongers turned "war mongers" in their terminology, think when they campaign for a so called political solution?

We can look at the problem and the solution from many angles. We had a terrorist problem and that problem has been solved now. A few bombs will explode here and there for sometime but terrorism has been defeated for good. It can be said that with Prabhakaran’s killing the LTTE has been annihilated. There are still some terrorists living locally and abroad especially under the protection of the western countries and these scattered Tamil racists are protesting against the government of Sri Lanka with the connivance of some of the governments in the West. Thus there is no problem to be solved, except to ask for extradition of these terrorists including Nambiar’s toilet friend Pathmanathan, and the military solution that has been given is a political solution as well. It is not necessary to quote a western political scientist to claim that military solutions are also political solutions as anybody would understand that the armies are political instruments. All military solutions are political solutions though there are political solutions that are not military solutions.

Then the President in his speech delivered in the Parliament made two important points. He said that there are no minorities and that there are only those who love the country and those who do not. We know that the British and the West have never loved our country and that they would not have paid the NGO and INGO peace mongers and others if the latter loved the country. It is not difficult to identify those who do not love the country and there is no reason to follow them in finding solutions to the problems of the country. These peace vendors have proved that they are failed agents of the west. They were shouting from rooftops that peace can be achieved only through negotiations with the terrorists. After more than two and half decades of peace talks what did we achieve? The LTTE gained and with the aid of the west they were armed to capture the whole of Sri Lanka and were waiting for an opportunity. Now peace that could not be achieved after two and half decades of negotiations has been achieved in only two and half years of military operations. Are we going trust these peace mongers when they claim that they are happy after the killing of Prabhakaran? How many of them are interested in finding out how the terrorist leader was killed? They want to know whether Prabhakaran was killed after he was taken to custody or before. Now who is interested in this question? It is the west and nobody else. Millilitre sized Miliband and his friends are hell bent to prove that the worst murderer to live in the recent past did not get a proper send off to hell. Perhaps they want to try the President, the Defence secretary and the commander of the army for so called war crimes in one of their "international show pieces" named tribunals. As the above named will be tried under the Western law we do not need experts in law to predict the outcome. The West, especially Britain, having lost its "war" against Sri Lanka, a former colony, through their terrorist agents the LTTE now wants to take revenge and try to wear the usual bogus humanitarian democratic mask to mislead their citizens.

We tell all these "international jurists" that we are not interested in the way a mass murderer has died as no punishment is adequate in his case. We would request the government to appoint a commission of inquiry from countries other than the west to inquire into the acts of the LTTE against mankind. The government should take the initiative to organise the non western countries along the lines of former organisation of the non aligned countries. The western Christian modernity after five hundred years is on its way to extinction and a new paradigm, nay a new Chinthanaya is needed for the new world that will emerge towards the end of the century.

The President also said that we would try to find indigenous solutions to the problems and it is axiomatic that the west and their agents cannot offer any indigenous solutions. Further if there are no minorities meaning ethnic minorities then by definition there cannot be ethnic groups and hence there is no ethnic problem. The solution has to be found for an existing problem and not a problem that has been drilled into the minds of the elite by the British. As we have argued a few weeks ago the situation had changed after the imminent annihilation (which has been accomplished now) of the LTTE that was used by the British to find a solution to the so called ethnic problem. The Illankai Thamil Arasu Kadchi from its inception in 1949, that was before the Official Language Act, had been campaigning for a Federal state as a solution to the so called ethnic problem. In 1976 the Party changed gears and began its campaign for a separate state. Prabhakaran and the West only added arms to the campaign. It is this campaign that has been defeated militarily and hence politically and we do not have to think of so called alternatives to this defeated solution and the problem.

Devolution of power on an ethnic basis was proposed as an alternative to the separate state of the LTTE and the TUF (TULF) which was supposed to be a solution to a non existing ethnic problem. The Tamils in Sri Lanka do not and did not have a problem as being Tamils except for their unwillingness to recognise the Sinhala Buddhist culture as the significant culture in Sri Lanka. This problem goes back to the first half of the nineteenth century when the British favoured the Tamils in all the fields. It was discrimination against the majority Sinhalas and in 1956 steps were taken to correct some of these injustices. If Sinhala replaced English as the official language how could one claim that an injustice was caused against the Tamils? As we have argued the Burghers could have said there were discriminated by that act but not the ordinary Tamils who did not know any English. One should send a group of people to conduct a survey among the so called IDPs to find out what they want. Do they want devolution? Are they happy with some kind of development in the areas they were living.

Back to the problem II

The other day I was listening to a cabinet minister claiming that Mr. S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike made a mistake by making Sinhala the official language and that Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa corrected it by making both Sinhala and Tamil official languages. This particular minister has no understanding of the problem nor is that he factually correct. Of course, he did not say that all the problems began with making Sinhala the official language but it was clear that he had ulterior motives. It was definitely not Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa who made Sinhala and Tamil official languages but the minister who probably thinks of himself as a Marxist or a socialist is trying to use Mr. Rajapaksa to do what he wants rather than what the people want the government to do. What this minister and others who could be grouped as pseudo socialist SLFP MPs do not know is that making Sinhala the official language was not an isolated incident, just as much annihilating the LTTE terrorists is not an isolated event. The minister not known for his intellectual talents is trying to mislead the President and the general public.

Sinhala had been the official language of the whole country for thousands of years though we did not have an act of Parliament just as much Britain has no act of Parliament that pronounces English as the official language of that country. It was the British who made English the official language again without appealing to an act of Parliament. The British who had wanted to weaken the Sinhala Buddhist culture, if not destroy it had given privileges to the Tamils especially to the Tamil Vellalas in Jaffna. It had been a continuous struggle by the ordinary Sinhala people, not the English educated Sinhalas in general who were satisfied with crumbs thrown by the British governor, to give due place to Sinhalathva, and the nineteenth century Sinhala Buddhist revival, nineteen fifty six movement and Mahinda Chinthana have been more prominent milestones in this fight back. In nineteen fifty six some of the injustices against the Sinhalas, especially the Sinhala Buddhists were corrected and the English educated Tamils, not the Tamils who did nor know claimed that making Sinhala the official language was an injustice to Tamil language. As we have said number of times, Tamil was not the official language before fifty six and by replacing English with Sinhala as the official language no injustice would have been done against Tamil nor to those Tamils who did not know any English. In fact some of the Tamils who did not know English would have known Sinhala and making Sinhala the official language instead of English was to their advantage.

It was the English educated Tamils who had been serving the British from the early nineteenth century with the intention of becoming the leaders of the nation and working against the Sinhala people from the time of the legislative assembly conniving with the British who took up arms against making Sinhala the official language. It was Chelvanayakam the Tamil Christian who belonged to the South Indian church and who had founded his racist Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kadchi or Lanka Tamil State Party in order to establish a separate state way back in 1949 before the Official language act, who spearheaded the movement against Sinhala and the Sinhalathva in general with his so called non violent sathgyagrahas that provoked the police and the Sinhala people and instigated people to take up arms. Prabhakaran was only the end result of this movement and Chelvanayakam and the TULF MPs who called the terrorists the boys are also responsible though indirectly for the murders of the LTTE. The minister referred to above does not know that making Sinhala the official language was part of our independence struggle against the British that was not completed in 1948, and if not for this struggle he himself would not have become a cabinet minister even in 2005, through the national list. The man probably does not know that Mahinda Chinthana carries this struggle forward and if he were to live for another fifty years he would claim that defeating terrorism was a blunder. These people though close to the President are acting in the interests of others and would be a threat to the policies of the SLFP. They should never be allowed to become the secretaries and other high ranking office bearers of the Party in the interests of the country. We know what happened when Chandrika Kumarathunga was made the leader of the party. She implemented not the nationalistic policies of the SLFP but the non nationalistic policies dictated by the British and the western powers, assisted by the NGO peace vendors on the pay roll of the western powers. These ministers and former presidents are ignorant of the problem as they have been brainwashed by the British historians, political scientists, sociologists, and of course by their counterparts here who can only echo the voices of their masters and mistresses, and by the Tamil racist movement.

The Tamil problem as we have said is nothing but a problem created by the Dutch and especially by the British. The British made use of the majority of the English speaking Tamils, who will be refereed to as the English speaking Tamils hereafter, to weaken Sinhalathva and if possible to destroy it from about 1827 to 1949. Originally they wanted to make the English speaking Tamils the leaders of the country over the English speaking Sinhala leaders and all the struggles in the legislative assembly for so called equal representation, fifty fifty representation arise from the English speaking Tamils trying to dominate the legislature with the connivance of the British governors. In 1949 there was a qualitative change in the aims and objectives of the Tamil racist leadership. Chelvanayakam who had seen that after universal franchise it was not possible for Tamils to become leaders of the country decided to establish a separate state in the northern and the eastern province long before the official language act, so called discrimination against the Tamil students when admitting students to the Universities and much before the so called black July. Chelvanayakam was able to broad base the struggle and mobilise the Tamils who did not speak English on behalf of the English speaking Tamils. He made use of the official language act, the anti shri campaign, the so called discrimination at university entrance examinations and mythology of a Tamil history going back to the days of Rama. In 1976 he was able to pass the traitor resolution to establish a separate state at the Vadukkodai conference and since then until two weeks ago the "boys" had taken the fight on behalf the English speaking Tamils.

The terrorists were created by the English speaking Tamils mostly among non English speaking Tamils to fight to weaken Sinhalathva if not destroy on behalf of the English speaking Tamils with the connivance of the British and the other western powers. Solheim was only the agent of the British and the Scandinavian countries with the leadership of Norway did the dirty work for the British. LTTE has been now annihilated and the English speaking Tamils who had financed the terrorists, together with the western powers, now have to "fight" on their own. These people are mostly in the western countries and we hear of them attacking the Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese embassies in those countries and also attacking Buddhist temples and Sinhala people with the police turning a Nelsonian eye on them at Trafalgar Square and such other places.

The British and the other westerners are now trying to prosecute the President, Defence Secretary and probably the higher ranking officers in the armed forces for so called war crimes. They will be prosecuted in what are known as international courts that have no "legality" as such but being westerners they will pretend that these so called courts are "legal" courts. The western Christian modernity is now in the twilight of its dominance and their systems of knowledge, theories, economies, political strategies are collapsing. We are five hundred years after the so called Renaissance and centuries after Reformation, Protestantism, French Revolution, Rhetoric on Equality, Enlightenment, Industrial Revolution, commencement of Capitalism, American Revolution, the milestones of western Christian modernity. The western system is bankrupt and after Gödel Theorem and the double slit experiment the foundations of western Mathematics and western Physics and of course Aristotelian logic have collapsed. Their economy is going from bad to worse to say the least, and the west is being exposed even to the die hard Anglophiles among us.

It is time to organise the nations other than the west into an alternative international (vikalpa jathyantharaya) not the Marxist internationals, along the lines of the non aligned conference of the yesteryears and Sri Lanka can take the leadership with China Russia Cuba and probably India and Pakistan playing major roles. Also Sri Lanka should request a jury appointed from the countries in the new alternative international to inquire into the horrible acts of the LTTE against humanity and how the west created and maintained Tamil terrorism supplying them with funds, arms and know how.

In the meantime it is essential that those who have worked for the LTTE and Tamil terrorism whether in the media or positions in the public service or in the NGOs including the INGOs, irrespective of whether they are Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, Burgher are brought to book. We may even dispense with the Roman Dutch Law for this purpose and establish our own adhikarana sabhas to go into these inquiries. Some third rate "intellectual" will think that this suggestion is not democratic etc., but then we know how the west acts democratically and fairly in these matters. In fact we should think of a mechanism to introduce our adhikaranaya in the other matters as well.

(To be concluded with the solution to the problem)
