there are a limited number of first class (berths) available . Very difficult to get, but the condition of 1st class compartment is very bad. do not recommend any person to get that. No maintenance for a long period. These are result of long term trade union resistance for any kind of reform in railway .
second class is ok.

Ah…sleeping berths still available? …thought it was a thing of the past..

Once I travelled from Badulla to Ella in the night mail and it was practically falling apart and painfully slow.
