Veronica Berlusconi was quoted as saying she acted after reading reports of her husband attending the 18th birthday party of a woman in Naples.
She reportedly said she could not be with a man who "consorted with minors".
The 72-year-old billionaire prime minister has not commented on the divorce reports. The couple have three grown-up children.
