If the purpose of your PC is gaming.

Then go for a ATI4870 or ATI4850

You can have 2 ATI cards crossfire on Foxconn Mars board.

New boards also exists which use DDR2 1066 or DDR3 1333
But still the mainstream is DDR2 800.

Talking about CPUs!

No Game out there uses the full quad core power.Future games might use it.
GTA 4 claims to have Quad core support still no confirmation on that.(I mean all games using only 2 cpu cores or one cpu core for multi threading. It is very hard to program them to use full 4 cores)

At present you can have more frame rates by using a high frequency 2 core cpu rather than having a low frequncy quad core cpu.But go for 3Ghz at least

tnx bro!!!

The City of Lost Heaven
Q9550 ~ 45K (eglobe solutions)
Get a P45 mobo (P45 Overclocks better than the X48) Like ASUS P5Q
Get a damn HD4780x2 or a GTX 280 (of course a 24" LCD :P) or wait and get a GTX 295 :P
2x2GB 1066 DDR2
800W PSU ( 700W FSP is available at eglobe solutions :) )

P.S : I assume that the budget isn't a concern
