This evening a friend of mine (a female of 25years of age)from Australia holidaying in Sri Lanka wanted to go to her aunts place at Deal Place, Colombo-03. So, she called 0112588588 cab service. Unlike before both taxi services (2577577 and 2588588 dont send dispatch messages of the taxi number, driver's number and the time dispatched because most drivers take private hires with customers). Since there was no response for sometime my friend had called again for which 2588588 base said that the cab was waiting outside the house. she promptly got into the cab and told the driver the destination from my residence in Park Road to Vajira Road. She noticed that the cab was unmarked. whilst proceeding from Park Road she had wanted to buy some things at Laughs Super market. But the driver inspite of several requests drove past the supermarket and went ahead and turned into Keells Supermarket near Dickmans Road, he had then asked her whether she i from overseas and whether she would like to give her number to him. Not replying to his questions my friend alighted from the car and went into keells an brought a few provisions and got into the cab. The driver had said he was given another hire in Park Road and she had got into this cab by mistake an on his own said his cab is from 2577577. My friend wondered as to why this was happening and told him to take the cab to Laughs Supermarket as she wanted to purchased scraped coconut. She left all the provisions she had bought at Keells in the cab and went into Laughs supermarket to get the scraped coconut.when she came back the cab wis not there. All her things had been taken.She then called 2588588 an complained, they had said it was not their cab but to try 2577577.when she called 2577577 they said that the Cab in question was cab no.114 and his phone number 0710315334 and the Base 0f 2577577 said that he cannot return the parcels as he was now in Panadura which was a diabolic lie. She then called me. I called the driver's number not knowing who I was he said he was parked near Asiri Surgical . I informed the Police and the Police traced him in the cab. The Police further informed that he is an IRC guy and that his name is Dilum . They informed that his other number is 078111432. He had been responsible for several mobile phone thefts, extortion and robbery. It is also noted that there were several Police complaints against the drivers of 2577577 for loss of things and mobile phones. Police are investigating the link between 2588588 and 2577577 and said perhaps there is a link between selected drivers. SO TAKE CARE WHEN YOU TRAVEL WITH IN THE CABS.DONT LEAVE YOUR PARCELS BEHIND EVEN FOR A FEW SECONDS. There are incidents when ladies travel alone other guys get in and extort money. My friend has also informed the CAA.
