The General Secretary of the SLFP Bhikku Organization and former Senior Presidential Advisor Ven. Uvatenne Sumana Thero and former Member of the Central Committee of JHU and convener of ‘Bodu Jana Balavegaya’ Ven. Galagodaththe Gnanasiri Thero expressed their support to Common Presidential Candidate Gen. Fonseka at a press conference held after Ven. Dhambara Amila Thero was released from remand prison.
Speaking at the press conference Ven. Galagodaththe Gnanasiri Thero said, “We came out as we couldn’t perch with the muddy swines of the government. We came to Parliament from JHU to establish a ‘Dharmishta’ (righteous) society. But what has happened? Is the ‘righteous society’ built at the three acre land at Gothami road Mr. Mahinda Rajapske gave? Ven. Soma Thero died. Where are the commissions to investigate his death? Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse gives candies. The Bhikkus of Hela Urumaya swallow them and keep their mouths shut.
Anyone who comes to Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse, despite his acts of crime and theft, becomes a patriot. However, if someone goes to the other side he becomes a traitor. This deception should be halted. A country with fear of shame and no fear of death should be established. There is no good governance or democracy in our country now. Hence, we take measures to bring victory to Gen. Sarath Fonseka to bring good governance and democracy to the country.

There is no good governance and democracy in the country now. Those who talk about good governance and democracy such as Ven. Dhambara Amila Thero are arrested and imprisoned. The law carried out in the country is the jungle law.
We made Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse president of this country to defeat separatist terrorism and develop the country. What Mr. Rajapakse does today is to sustain his family. Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse hates those who show him the correct path most. He is destroying himself by running amok in face of defeat. It is necessary to build a righteous country for the future generations. It is our responsibility. Mr. Rajapakse can never achieve this as he is an unsuccessful, corrupt ruler. Hence, as the ‘Democratic Bhikku Alliance’ we decided to support gen. Fonseka.”
