Is there an operating system already installed on the computer? If so, I'm guessing it's Windows, which version of Windows is it?

Yes, there's plenty of software available for partitioning!

Partition Logic is a free one, then there's Partition Magic, the list goes on and on!

Well, you can download "GParted" and install it into a USB drive. Make sure you follow the procedures correctly:

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php

Alternatively you can use Acronis Disk Director and use that from a USB drive, but the USB drive should be in FAT32 format for Acronis Disk Director to work when you boot.

This way, you don't need a CD-ROM drive to partition your HD.

Well, it's not difficult at all. It's pretty easy! You just have to make sure you don't click on files you're not meant to which shouldn't be hard at all...

However, if you're really unsure of what you're doing. You should take it into a computer store, it's a relatively easy task to do, I've done it several times.

First of all, do a "Defragentation" using the Disk Defragmentor. Then use any Partition Creating sfotware...
