A monument erected as a tribute to the courage and gallantry of the heroic members of Security Forces who liberated the Eastern province from the domination of brutal terrorists transforming so-called Black July into a Golden July and as a symbol of devotion to the people of the East was unveiled at ILLUPPADICHANA junction in KARADIYANARU by the Defence Secretary Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse and the Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka. Eventually the Defence Secretary and the Army Commander and other military and police top brass conversed with Army troops and conveyed their gratitude on their commitment and sacrifice on behalf of the people.
