This dramatic photo not only shows the grace, beauty and symmetry of flight, but also graphically displays some of the physical flight dynamics that would be hard to imagine otherwise.Everything about this shot is strong. The monochromatic contrast, the contrast of the soft curves of the vortices against the harder angles of the aircraft itself...this would be a once in a lifetime shot for any photographer.

Taken atop a barrel roll of F-4E, 66-0323 above this formation of Boeing E-3A, 76-1605, F-4Es, 66-0330 and 66-0382. This photograph was a well kept secret for some years, as the pilot specifically asked that it not be shown to USAF officials, because one was not supposed to roll around the E-3A! The snow on the ground makes the airplanes difficult to spot, but it is something not likely to be done again.

Unique front view of 747 Air to Air takeoffs. SQ11 heavy to Tokyo with full power climbing out of Rwy 25R. The foreshortening of the telephoto (plus the tail shadow) gives the illusion that the 747 is much closer to the ground.
