Bring a phone from overseas

Hello I plan to bring an iphone from Australia as a gift for my mum. Not doing business and do not intend to. Would I have problems at the airport or will the phone stop working after sometime as it is not registered or would I encounter any problems of any sort? Thank you for readign this
