broken dreams
broken hearts
what did it mean
when you said you loved me
held me tight
said was forever
and ever
good night
and in the morning
with dawns first light
I awoke to emptiness
you'd gone away…
took all my happiness
my hopes my dreams
left me with sorrows
without any means
once we'd made promises
to have and to hold
til the end of forever
we were so bold
then you grew distant
you'd grown to adore
in time you left me
for another you'd found
and left me feeling empty
as the world went around
promises are forever
so I believed
when made with intentions
love could be weaved
into a pattern
to withstand all time
I learnt once
that promises
break upon lies
still I believe
in the concept of love
a promise of forever
can be made then above
but only if both
agree to the thing
can a promise be made
can love really sing
once I was blind
deluded by sight
by sound and desire
I flailed about
unknowing
believing
all that I'd heard
then my heart was broken
by a promised one's word
now I am grown
yet still I believe
words can be weened
I will promise another
my life evermore
should I meet her
love her
adore her
encore her
