The degrees are not the same, even if they take the same length of time and share some classes. To the engineering world:

B.Tech. is a practical degree representing a senior technician role. Holders are expected to receive minimal theory and little-to-no design training. They are much better trained in analysis - the primary skill of a technician. Most holders have a hard time finding work as an engineer.

B.Eng. is an intermediate degree, with some design and theory, but really focused on mundane engineering tasks - designing based on established principles and techniques. Most holders will work as engineers but face limited advancement opportunities.

B.S. or B.Sc. or S.B. are theory/design based degrees, focusing heavily on theory and design principles, often with little application or practice. These are the only ones with real advancement prospects, either in industry or academia, and are the highest paid.

Please note that if your program does not match these expectations, you should plan accordingly! If your school requires only slightly more or harder work to get the B.S. instead of the others, do it!

මට කියන්න තියෙන්නේ BSC එකක් ම කරන්න. මොකද 4 year degree including industrial Training (minimum 6 months). BEng එකක් කලොත් 3 year. No industrial training. ඒත් ලංකාවේ industrial training නැති උනාම කේස් නිසා ලංකාවෙ දෙන BENG වල නිවාඩු කාලේ අල්ලලා මාස තුනක වගේ එකක් සෙට් කරනවා. හැබැයි ඒත් original course content එකේ එහෙම එකක් නැ. මේ නිසා සමහර විට training place එක තමුන්ට තනියෙන් හොයගන්න වෙනවා.

ලංකාවේ පිලිගැනීම තියෙන්නේ අවුරුදු 4 ඒවාට. මේකත් කරන university එක field එකේ කොච්චර ප්‍රසිද්දද කියන එක මත තමා. දැනට ලංකාවෙ දෙන අහවල් uk, USA univerversity එකේ කියලා කිව්වාම කවුරුවත් දන්නේ නෑ. ඒක නිසා පුලුවන් තරම් ප්‍රසිද්ද තැනක කරන්න.

අලුතින්ම දාන ඒවාටත් යන්න එපා. specially first batch, second batch. ප්‍රසිද්දද නැති නිසා ජොබ් හොයාගන්න සැහෙන කුණක් කන්න වෙනවා.
