Defensive Attack network
Instead of trying to block attacks from outside one by one. Best alternaive is to attack your own vunerability before any attack occurs. Such as a secondary internet connection or wifi card allowing an hack to occur from outside the network. Mind you usb hack is hard to defend.
One should install servers that are always scanning tcp and udp ports for local loopholes and attacking it with Denial of Death to the local pc until the vulnerability is fixed. This way attack from outside would not be able even to penatrate the local network. This can be best used in Power plants, Defence, etc.
Companies should always make sure that internet connected network is seprated from company connected one. Instead of allowing tcp ip protocol access to local network they should use different unrecognised protocol in between to prevent access to local network.
