One cannot register business as easily as those old days of ID only needed to register are gone. When it was in Colombo 2 charges were not high, then shifted to Bambalapitiya but the charges increased but there were no hassle like today. Business Registration is screwing all people alike whether it be Sinhalese,Tamil or Muslim. They don't want people to start a business in this country in the first place.

They have now shifted to Nawalapitiya. For every dam thing they want Garamasewaka signature and Gramasewaka is in Dam Street. People have to travel multiple times for their signature. They are not Computerized, they are still in British Colonial period, where there are no computers to be seen. Even Gramasewaka is writing old letters by pen. They make people miserable by giving Business Registration in Sinhala where is it of no use for exporters. They are saying Singhala and Tamil are government language. Sri Lanka export Board wants it in English so as to send it to foreign countries. People cannot stamp it with translation with each countries foreign mission to send goods and services abroad. They should learn from UK government how easy it is to register a business. Even Singapore with majority Chinese opted to use English as main language in official government. They can take example of India where English is main bread winner even in parliament. All air traffic is speaking in English. The internet is majority English. English is easier because majority of French speaking countries are switching to English. English Language can get you in Scientific field because majority of works are in English. Majority of EU is doing business and parliament in English. Majority of World Business is done in English. You do not need translator for English because other person knows it.

Sinhala JVP civil war and Tamil LTTE civil war got Sri Lanka nowhere. Sri Lanka should better reset the mind set of the government . Sri Lankan RIX dollar was a strong currency with currency board instead of central bank. People just needed pennies to live off normal life. English was the main language of the government. The Language is there to make people communicate and understand each other and it never was there to oppress any people. There was no need for translators. There was never a language barrier.

The government attitude has to change.

In Business Registration there was an Sinhalese auditor who wanted to delete an Nature of Business. He had to scream after 15 days they have not done his job which he requested. There was a Tamil Lady who was from abroad, she wanted form in English, The Registrar said that Sinhala and Tamil is the only government language. Then how can you expect FDI to come from abroad. There are millions of Sri Lankan Nationals who are living abroad who want to invest in this country, the country is telling do not start a business. Not a single person is there who gets his or her job done easily. They make life miserable. We have to scream at them.

Government should help people,we pay all the taxes, but they screw all the people alike. This is not right.

if you dont know the procedure, go for a professional service provider who will do all the stuff for about 15000-20000 rupees (service charge) for (private) Ltd company registration. Its not a difficult process, only thing is that you dont know how to do it.

Hello ppl...how is your day....DAMMN HOT these days.....

Well I handed over my application for business registration and got the receipt at the new place No. 17 Pagoda Road, NUGEGODA.

First I asked for an English application Form, but they said only Sinhala and Tamil. They ALSO mentioned I can fill the form in English...no problem mahattaya...

Yes...I believed them but most of the instructions were in Sinhala. So lucky me I can read in bi-lingual....

Let see and wait for confirmation till Wednesday or Thursday....
