    • Shares in Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD slid by as much as 8% on Monday after it reported a drop in profit
    • The carmaker had on Friday reported that its net profit fell to 6.4bn yuan ($900m; £660m) between April and June, down 30% from a year earlier.
BYD has slashed its sales target for this year by as much as 16% to 4.6 million vehicles, two people with knowledge of the matter said, as the Chinese EV giant faces its slowest annual growth in five years and other signs that its era of record-setting expansion could be drawing to a close.
China's largest automaker told analysts in March it was targeting sales of 5.5 million vehicles for 2025. But internally, the number has been downgraded multiple times in recent months, according to the people.

    hype eka iwarai wage
its not hype ban, its how Chinese do business, they put everything to dominate the market and then stabilize at a lower level. same happened with Xiaomi, they lost around 10000USD per car at the launch. BYD slashed car prices few months ago as part of their aggressive marketing, but eventually the market will be settled.

Yes, maybe, but I don't think an EV company can survive in the global market with a low profit margin, because they have to spend a large portion of their profit on research and development. Otherwise, they will simply be kicked out of the market.

This is temporary this happened even to Blue Chips such as IBM, AMAZON etc. At the moment BYD is going great so profits will come later, expansion of business and profits are two different things R&D and investment would have dipped the profits and this is ok. Profits will come with ten fold
