Yesterday I had a horrible experience at a certain restaurant and I think I should share my experience with you. Mainly what i expect is to inform my friends in EK about good and bad places/shops in colombo city. So in this way we all will know where to go and which place is to be avoided by sharing our knowledge and experiences.
Yesterday I went to the kollpity side with some of my friends and then we discussed about going somewhere and having some beer together. But we couldnt think about a good place so we gave up the idea. Then another friend of mine told us about this Restaurant called Cafe On The Fifth and then we all agreed to go there and have a coffee.
And then we went there and ordered coffees for 7 people (price of one was something around 85 rs) and there were some tables free which were placed in the out side of the building and one of my friends went there to take a seat. And an old guy who looks like the manager of that place came and told my friend (in a kind of a tone) to go away cos as he said that section was only for the people who are having dinner. Not coffe. But we could not see any other tables other than those. And then we went and talk to some other person from the same place and and then he showed a table placed in a room and then we went there. But there was only 3 chairs. we asked him to bring more but he told us to do it by our self. After that, few of my freinds went out to have a smoke. and then a waiter came and told us that its ok to smoke inside. so those friends who went out came in again and start having the fag inside.
While we was waiting for our coffe, the old guy that I mentioned previously came again with two other customers and he he start blaming all of my friends!!! and told that we shouldnt smoke inside its not allowed. And then he turned into those other two customers and said that "you can sit here, its ok. they are leaving now" . What the f**k.
Then I told him that the waiter told us that its ok to smoke inside. So if the manager expect customers to not to smoke inside, first of all he should have informed his employee(waiter) about that. And his reply was "thats why i came now. to inform him". WTF! we told him that we paid for what ever we were ordering, and we are not beggars so we dont deserve to be treated like that and then we asked for a refund. And he refused. So we came out without anything.
I strongly advice anyone to avoid that place. As its the most horrible restaurant I have ever been to. Even those "saiwar kada" are better than those kind of places. They are friendlier than them.
This place is located in the fifth lane, in the opposite side of the Isipathana college.
