Campaign to urge Murali not to retire
A group of Sri Lankan cricket enthusiasts have started a campaign asking veteran spinner Muttiah Muralitharan not to retire and go on for the magical 1000 Test wicket mark. The off-spinner two weeks ago announced that he would retire from Tests next year after being troubled by a knee injury that kept him out of the recent Test series against Pakistan.

The off-spinner two weeks ago announced that he would retire from Tests next year after being troubled by a knee injury that kept him out of the recent Test series against Pakistan.
The supporters are planning to send as many as one million e-mails to Murali’s mentor Kushil Gunasekara, the former cricket board secretary urging the bowler to continue for a few more years.
Muralitharan is the highest wicket taker in both Tests and ODIs.
The e-mail originated by one Yoshitha Ediriweera read, "E-mail Murali’s Manager Kushil Gunasekera asking him to request Murali NOT to retire until he takes 1000 Test wickets. Target is One Million E-mails. Ask all your friends to send emails. We must pressurize Murali NOT to retire.
