Can an SMS be traced??

hey i have a small question.

there is this certain text message that is being circulated. can this sms be traced and da person who originated it be found?? any legal process if needed can also be done if required by the service provider but i just want to know weather it is possible t trace it??

This is kind of a bit urgent so would appreciate if i can get some quick replies!!!

it can be traced if u have the correct numbers and details,
bt as far as i knw 2 do this a court order is needed

if u wna gt a court order ull have to gv some hard evidence,

no bunz. this is da seen. there is this SMS dat is being circulated. da SMS contains stuff dat is written in a bad way abt a person. nw dat person wants to take legal action against da person who started it coz it contains stuff dat is really really bad. nw my dad wants to know weather da guy who started this msg can be caught by tracing da msg backwards. lyk a email thama. is it possible?

hmmm den dat wuld be really hard since this means tracking thru different service providers dat i am nt sure machan.
bt better to chk wth dialog or mobitel

I think it is possible for the networks. But from our side, it will be very hard job. but if theres a court order, maybe it will help. if there are more service providers involved, that makes it more difficult! sorry to hear about that incident
