Can i use SATA2 Hard wit a ONLY SATA1 SUPPORTED MOTHERBOARD????

Guys....
I bought a chaintech mothrbrd 4 my AMD Athlon64 CPU in 2005...
It has SATA 1 supprt.
I used a Maxtor DiamondMAX 160GB HDD, and lately it died.

When i chekd the stores for new Hard Disk i can't find a SATA 1 hard anyway.
Theres only SATA2 Hard Disks!!!!!

They said SATA2 HDD wont wrk wit a SATA1 only enabled MthrtBrd.

Guys!!!
Pls help me........
Will I have to get a anthr MthrBrd???? HOPE NOT!

Yep, SATA 2 is backwards compatible. Which means u can use it in SATA-150 mode. ( There must b a jumper to switch between two modes. )

can be used. But slow speeds same like SATA1

iv already gt a 40GB SATa.... and thr no need 2 hav another 40GB "IDE"....
