Canadian immigration officials arrested Tamil Nadu film director Seeman and deported him late last night after he gave a fiery speech at an event where the flag of the outlawed LTTE was flown, the Canadian media reported.
The Sri Lankan Defence Ministry also confirmed, quoting Canadian sources as saying that Seeman was arrested last night and was seen taken in handcuffs for making a speech in support of the LTTE.
The Canadian media quoted Seeman as urging people to help restart the civil war in Sri Lanka. In the video of his speech, a flag bearing the emblem LTTE can be seen in the room. The LTTE is a banned terrorist organization under Canadian law.
RCMP officers and members of the Toronto and Peel police services were involved in Mr. Seeman's arrest, which comes as police are cracking down on the pro-rebel events that were once common in Toronto, the Canadian media reported.
