A cargo plane crashed near the airport in the United Arab Emirates of Sharjah on Wednesday, Al Arabiya television reported, adding that casualties have been reported.
"A cargo plane crashed today at the airport in Sharjah," an unnamed official told the AFP news agency, adding that a "state of emergency had been declared at the airport."
A second official said the aircraft was Iranian, but gave no details.
Britain's Sky New, however, reported the plane was a Sudanese-owned Boeing 707.
Sharjah one of seven emirates in the UAE federation and neighbors the tourism hub of Dubai.
