Mayday-Poetry of the day

After spending an entire year on their “Mayday Jump! The World” tour, Mayday went right back to the studio to work on their seventh album. Half a year in the making, Mayday’s new album “Poetry of The Day After”… writes another brilliant page in the band’s history of spot-on, feel-good, populist rock. The album’s title number was created in a crossover with Taiwan novelist Giddens Ko, who turned the five band members’ stories into the song’s lyrics. For the album photowork, the band enlisted the services of renowned Japanese photographer Kimura Naoki. Like with their previous “Born to Love”, Mayday will include tickets to their large-scale album launch concert in first press limited edition versions of the album. [Credit : YesAsia.com]

Renée Chen who hailed from Los Angeles debuted as a hip-hop/rap/R&B artist in Taiwan in 2003 with her album, “Who’s Renee?” She was nominated and won the “Best New Artist” award at the Golden Melody Awards. People have criticized her for being unattractive, but have praised her for having a strong voice. She is rather talented, for she can play multiple musical instruments: piano, cello, flute, and etc? (guitar?). Her dancing skill is quite impressive for someone who never took any formal dancing lessons, and she choreographed her own dance moves for the “Feel Good” and the “Spider Web” MVs. She also writes and composes music, for example the “Spider Web” is her own piece of work.
“Miracle Renee” is her 2nd album after 5 years and it include a mandarin version (Track 9) of Lee Hyori’s “Toc Toc Toc”.

The inaugural season of Taiwan’s popular reality singing contest program “One Million Star” launched the storybook careers of Aska Yang, Yoga Lin, and Jam Hsiao. Now, first season finalists Peter Pan, Judy Chou, and Stanly Hsu are setting out on their own with their solo debut EPs which will be released consecutively in a three-week campaign. The dancer of the lot, second-place winner Judy “Rain” Chou is also second in the release schedule with his EP “So What”. Judy shows his flair for fast songs with the first plug “Lonely Compartment”, a fusion of R&B and traditional Chinese music featuring a rap section written by the singer himself.
