The Story of Paul the Apostle

The impassioned life work of the devout Jew who persecuted Christians until he heard the voice of God is

The Story of the Twelve Apostles

This documentary from the History Channel does a fine job examining the lives of the 12 disciples chosen by

Christ to carry his teachings to the world. Beginning by providing an historical overview of life in Jerusalem

under Roman rule, it goes on to cogently explain the circumstances by which Jesus, having become recognized as

a teacher, was able to recruit his apostles. Intelligently handled reenactments provide dramatizations of

significant events in the lives of the disciples, and their diverse personalities and individual relationships

with Jesus, as well as their lives following the crucifixion, are covered in some depth. Biblical scholars,

including university professors and priests, appear throughout in interview segments to offer their insights,

and the narration by actor Martin Sheen is understated but always interesting. The issue of separating fact

from myth is dealt with at some length, and a discussion of how some accounts of the lives of the apostles

came to be judged as the Apocrypha is of particular interest. The Story of the Twelve Apostles is a

commendable look at some of history's most intriguing figures, 12 men who were considered outlaws but whose

influence is today felt around the world.

Martin and Hazel Quarrier are small-town fundamentalist missionaries sent to the jungles of South America to convert the Indians. Jesus says, "Everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:32,33). Jesus Christ is the center, the foundation and the substance of our lives. He alone is the only hope of the world.

Yet the world really hates Jesus and everything that He stands for. Infact the most hated person in the last 2000 years has been Jesus Christ. During his lifetime itself Jesus Prophesized that the world will hate him and his followers (Christians). Here's the reason why:
John 3:19-21 : This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
John 15:19 : The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don't. I chose you to come out of the world, and so it hates you.

Yes, the world hates Jesus Christ because the world loves to sin. And Jesus Christ did not give reasons to justify people's sins. Rather He called on people to account for their sins and repent. And the world does not want to give up the pleasure of sin and come to repentance. Imagine a good man coming and teling you that you are a sinner in need of repentance. You won't like his message at all. Infact most people will abuse him for telling the truth about them. So is the case with Jesus Christ.

This film presents a real dilemma for any Christian teen. Tim, a senior in high school, becomes a Christian at a summer youth camp and now must face his old worldly friends, his atheistic parents plus fit in with his new lukewarm Christian friends. A solid movie and a very real situation for Christian witnessing.

This film is all about giving your all to Christ. This Film, released in 1984 is about a teenager who is arrested along with his best friend Marty after they steal an ice cream truck. Tim's Parents(Dad Being a talk show host!)send him to a Christian Camp because they want to "Shape up his behavior." With the warning "Don't become a born again bible-banger", he is hustled off to camp. Keep in mind that his parents are not Christians.

Despite the warning, He gives his life to Christ. He does the very thing his parents don't want. What do you expect from a kid when you send him to a Christian Camp? Truth is, he does a lot more than just "Shape up his behavior." His whole life has changed!

Now he has several new problems he have to deal with. Not the least, is his non Christian parents who want him to be the "All American Boy" Isn't that what got him into trouble in the first place? Then, his best friend Marty who is running for class president-"Party with Marty" is his slogan. Since Tim no longer believed in what Marty Stood for, what to do? What do you now you're a Christian and Marty isn't? Then his lukewarm Christian friends do nothing but talk.

After his initial failures to take a stand for his faith(like chickening out when he is asked to read his paper "The most important thing in the world to me" out loud in class) He realizes that Jesus wanted a greater commitment from him.

Despite the conflicts with his parents and Marty, Tim decides to Join a Bible study group at school and to show the love of Christ by helping others. It comes to the point when he have to put his life on the line.

The last 5 minutes is a Gem! I won't give it away, let's just say that it will warm your heart and be an encouragement to you! Good for Youth Groups.

The film is an interesting drama about two friends who are climbers
and they have opposing views on life. It is a struggle between good
and evil, which is shown through their views and how they live their lives.

Many Christians will be able to relate to this, as illustrated by the gap
that exists when you choose to live an upright life, while a secular friend
the alternate takes his detriment.

Want to help them and you care about them, but look at things
different. This is where prayer comes in. I never stop praying for people
in your life. God is good and can help anyone.
