CID to question Saman Ekanayake, fresh documents released by Ranil’s camp

Former President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake has reportedly been summoned to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to make a statement regarding former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to the United Kingdom.

The inquiry relates to allegations that state funds were misused for the visit. CID sources said a further statement is also expected to be recorded from Ekanayake.

Meanwhile, Wickremesinghe’s media division released another set of documents, which it said were received by his lawyers from Wolverhampton University in the UK, aimed at countering allegations surrounding the trip. (Newswire)
