I completed my course with City & Guilds . I did "6165 - Diploma In Construction Industry" and
Now I'm doing "6165 - Advanced Diploma In Construction Industry". whatever , it's more valuable
than HNDE .
Technical colleges get 3 years to complete their syllabus in the certificate level when city &
guilds takes only 1 year .And Technical colleges take another 1 year to complete the diploma
level and If you want to do the DIPLOMA directly without doing the certificate , it's imposible
with the Technical colleges . But City & Guilds will discuss with you and if you confidant with
doing the diploma they will allow you to move your first step with the diploma and it's
duration is 1 year while Technical colleges takes up to 4+ years to complete the diploma . And
After you completed your Diploma with CITY & GUILDS , you can move to your next step with "
Advanced diploma " It takes 10 months to complete the course . AND after you completed your "
Advanced diploma " , you can proceed with Chartered Engineering Status ( Engineering Council
UNITED KINGDOM - PART 2 ). You don't need to go abroad You can do it in srilanka. And MOST
IMPORTANT THING IS YOU WILL GET A INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED QUALIFICATIONS.
Technical colleges ( Durations )
Foundation level -- 1 year ( You will have to complete this level If you have only o/l
results or you have done "BIOLOGY" OR "ARTS" for A/L OR you have failed the A/L Examination .
1) Certificate level -- 1 year
2) Diploma level -- 1 year
3) HNDE ( Higher National Diploma ) -- another 1 year
4) DEGREE ( B.ENG ) -- another 2-3 years .
**** FULL DURATION YOU WILL WASTE - 7+ YEARS
IF YOU STARTED YOUR STUDIES WHEN YOU ARE 23 WHEN YOU EARN A DEGREE YOUR AGE WILL BE 30.
CITY & GUILDS
1) Foundation level -- 0 Years ( WHY SHOULD WE DO THIS LEVEL WHEN WE KNOW WE CAN DO MORE THINGS THAN TECHNICAL COLLEGES THINK )
2) Certificate level -- 0 years ( YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THIS LEVEL WHILE YOU'RE CONFIDENT WITH DOING THE DIPLOMA LEVEL . BECAUSE ALL WE ARE MORTAL , WE HAVE LIMITED LIFE TIME SO WHY SHOULD WE WASTE THE TIME BY YEARS ? , LET'S MOVE TO DIPLOMA )
3) Diploma level -- 1 year ( Start counting the years to degree )
4) Advanced Diploma level -- 10 months ( It's not magic . Their syllabus is not shortened than T/C )
Once you complete the Advanced Diploma level YOU ARE EXEMPTED FROM CHARTERED ENGINEERING PART 1
AND YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO DO THE ENGINEERING COUNCIL EXAMINATIONS OF UNITED KINGDOM - CHARTERED ENGINEERING PART 2.
5) THE ENGINEERING COUNCIL EXAMINATION - CHARTERED ENGINEERING PART 2 ( Graduate ) - 10 months ( You can do this examination in sri lanka )
YOU WILL ADD A VALUE TO YOUR LIFE BEING A GRADUATE (B.eng ) -
**** FULL DURATION - 2 YEARS and 8 months .
*** IF YOU STARTED YOUR STUDIES WHEN YOU ARE 23 WHEN YOU EARN A DEGREE , YOUR AGE WILL BE 25-26 ONLY.
AND IF YOU ARE BRAINED OR YOU ARE CONFIDENT WITH YOUR EXAMS YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 1
YEAR OR 10 MONTHS COMES FIRST , YOU CAN START YOUR STUDIES ON JANUARY AND SIT THE EXAM IN JUNE
THEN YOU SHORTENED THE DURATION BY HALF . ISN'T IT AMAZING .

WE KNOW SOME ARE BLAMING ABOUT CITY AND GUILDS . BUT WHEN WE WANT TO RIDE A BICYCLE , WE DON'T HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT IT'S MATERIALS IT MADE FROM AND WHICH CHEMICAL REACTIONS WERE HAPPENED WHEN IT MADE IN THE FACTORY . AND WE JUST WANT TO RIDE THE BICYCLE NOT COMPLICATED USELESS DETAILS.
That is CITY AND GUILDS DO . CITY AND GUILDS TEACHING VERY IMPORTANT THINGS THAT YOU CAN BE GENIUS IN YOUR INDUSTRY / FIELD WHILE TECHNICAL COLLEGES TEACHING VERY IMPORTANT THINGS + LOT OF USELESS THINGS + IRRELEVANT STUFF , WHICH TAKES LOT OF TIME TO COMPLETE IN THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE COURSES .
