15 Kg Claymore mine concealed in garbage found at Wellawatta(LeN- Oct. 04, 2.15 pm) A claymore bomb weighing 15 Kg concealed in a lump of garbage was found this morning (4th) near the Police quarters off the Coastal Railway line, Wellawatta.A man who collects old pieces of iron has found this in a garbage lump and when he tried to remove the wire attached to it a passer by has recognized that it was a bomb and informed the Police check point near by.Police believe that the bomb was placed there either to damage the railway bridge near wellawatta station or to create mayhem in the city. The bomb disposal unit has diffused the bomb.A similar bomb was discovered last month at Borella D.S. Senanayake road, concealed in a wooden box fixed to a push bicycle.
