Defending champion Kim Clijsters won her third US Open title with a resounding 6-2 6-1 victory over Russian seventh seed Vera Zvonareva.
After winning the title in 2005, for her first Grand Slam title, Clijsters missed three years due to injury and retirement before returning to win again in 2009.
And her run through to the title this year means the 27-year-old Belgian is now unbeaten in an incredible 21 matches at Flushing Meadows
