after i was reading migaramk ඇපල්, දොඩම් සහ මිදි Thread,i thought we shoud talk about this topic too.
i hope u guys will join this thread and share ur knowledge, and ideas.
But guys,This Is not so easy the topic, its too big..:D:D there are lot of things to talk.
post here all about clones technology and share it with ur brothers and sisters in Elakiri....i am sure,if this thread succeed,it will really help your family,ur friends,ur kids ..e.t.c.:D
we can talk about advantages, disadvantages,if it should be banned,or accepted(and the reason),who were the first clone, and was it a successful clone?,belive me,this is a really interesting subject
u can share ur ides and knowledge in Sinhala Or English(as u wish)

u can post articles, videos picture including valuable information...
Or Ask what u dont know, and what ur interested to learn and discuss,

i dont need any reps for this thread, post what u know,or ask at least a question u like to have an answer
So first of all lets learn and talk about some basic questions in clone technology

What is a Clone?

A clone is an exact genetic copy of a plant or animal.

What is animal cloning?

Cloning is an assisted reproductive technology that allows livestock breeders to create identical twins of their best animals. The most common procedure used today is known as somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), which makes it possible to produce many animals from a single donor.

How does cloning affect the DNA of animals?

Cloning does not change DNA, and clones are not genetically engineered animals. It is simply assisted reproduction, similar to embryo transfer, artificial insemination, or in vitro fertilization.

Is animal cloning a new technology?

Animal cloning has been rigorously studied for decades, since the earliest research on embryo splitting in the late seventies and early eighties. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has analyzed numerous scientific studies on the subject, conducted over 30 years and encompassing several generations and large families of livestock.

Does cloning cause animal suffering?

Cloning enhances animal wellbeing, and is no more invasive than other accepted forms of assisted reproduction such as in vitro fertilization. In fact, clones are the “rock stars” of the barnyard, and therefore are treated like royalty. Breeding the best possible stock improves the over-all health and disease resistance of animal populations. Additionally, because these breeding techniques can improve the over-all health and disease resistance of an animal, cloning will greatly reduce animal suffering

well,lets talk about it

little info about Plants Cloning

cloning-plant.gif

Nature has been cloning organisms for billions of years. For example, when a strawberry plant sends out a runner (a form of modified stem), a new plant grows where the runner takes root. That new plant is a clone. Similar cloning occurs in grass potatoes and onions.
People have been cloning plants in one way or another for thousands of years. For example, when you take a leaf cutting from a plant and grow it into a new plant (vegetative propagation), you are cloning the original plant because the new plant has the same genetic makeup as the donor plant. Vegetative propagation works because the end of the cutting forms a mass of non-specialized cells called a callus. With luck, the callus will grow, divide and form various specialized sells (roots, stems), eventually forming a new plant.
More recently, scientists have been able to clone plants by taking pieces of specialized roots, breaking them up into root cells and growing the root cells in a nutrient-rich culture. In culture, the specialized cells become unspecialized (dedifferentiated) into calluses. The calluses can then be stimulated with the appropriate plant hormones to grow into new plants that are identical to the original plant from which the root pieces were taken.

there is a cloning technology in the most technologies
and in cloning
in Usa citizen eat meat and other products from cloned animals it was approved by the FDA on December 28, 2006 Cloned beef and other products regularly consumed in US without distinction
