Compaq CQ40 Laptop HELP !!!

I bought a compaq CQ40 Laptop coming with DOS Operating System. I tried to install windows XP but couldn't. It only allows me to install Vista. Is there any way I can install windows XP to it..........

Are you getting some sort of an error when trying to install XP ? Is it something like "Windows did not find any hard disk installed in your computer" ?? If that is the error then you can fix it by slipstreaming SATA drivers in to the Windows XP installation disk.

Tell me the exact error so I can tell you what to do.

After loading all the drivers during the initial part of the installation, there is a blue screen appears saying that windows cannot be installed due to some errors in the hard disk (eg. viruses. a hard disk is not found, remove any newly installed hard disks....etc)
What you have suggested might work........ can you tell me how to do it, I have windows XP 2006 SP-2 CD.

machan so far as i know this model can not install XP. only vista. Lots of my friends got the same prob.
