I use Hamachi alot. :) :)
Of course you can make a LAN over the WAN & share your files & stuff like you're being on a LAN. :)

to access someone's data from another PC the 1st person has to share the flies he is intersted in.
You might encounter difficulties at first making a VPN which works fine. Until you set up a bullet proof secured network you might wanna loosen up the security abit.

Install Hamachi on both PCs.
one person make a network
The other one joins that network. Sounds good huh! ?
Now turn off the firewalls for sometime until you clear things out. :)
when you sign in to Hamachi you'll see an IP address like 5.x.x.x . The IP shown in your Hamachi interface is your IP over the Hamachi Network and the IP the other person sees is the one of his IP ver Hamachi, simple as that. But either way all hamachi IP's start with 5.x.x.x pattern so you wont get misguided. :)

Ok by now you should have done few things...
Log in to hamachi
Make a network & the other person joins it sucessfully. !
Turn down the god damn firewalls.
You should both know your Hamachi IPs.

Now go to command prompt & type
ping <hamachi IP of your friend>
& see if you get a result back. You sure would get that if you'd followed what I said.

Now you can access each others shared files by typing "\\<hamachi ip of friend>"

in the address bar or in start => run :)

Let me know if you have any problems :)

Cheers,
