Anyways.. No one can question Iraj's Remakes... Because He has OBTAINED LEGAL PERMISSION FROM THIER RESPECTIVE OWNERS TO MODIFY THE ORIGINAL SOUND TRACKS..

not only ''mata sithanna ba'' , he also obtained legal permission to remake the track ''Mata aloke genedevi'' From Thissa Nagodawithana and SARIGAMA CORPERATION - India ..


Talking about using other ppls music ,Then I think you should blame Dr. Amaradeva too. bcuz he has used a very popular western song's melody in the song ''NIM HIM SEWWA ''..and many more senior artists did the same thing. (And without proper permission of course...)
I can show many more examples if you like...

BTW . everything changes. so is music. I don't see anything bad about using older songs melodies to create new tracks...As long as They have legal permission to do them and As long as ppl love those songs...

As a srilankan, I'm so happy to see a talented guy like Iraj taking our small country's name to the world..

Seems like you know Iraj pretty closely. anyway i didnt talk about his remakes. If you listen watch that video clip, the scratch is directly from "Pump me Up". There is a lot of scratching in Will Smiths tack by DJ Jezzy Jrff. How pathetic to EXTRACT a scratch from someone else's track into his track. To make it worse there is a someone acting as a DJ in the video. Has Iraj or any one in the song got permission from Colombia Music or Will Smith or DJ Jezzy Jeff? i don't think so.

I'm not trying to compare senior artists and junior artists or anything here but i cant keep my mouth shut when "artists" are doing such things. I'm not blaming all those on Iraj. K. Sujeewas first song (it's not worth to remember the name even) is the most horrible copy i have seen. Don't mix up remakes and copying music.

Taking old melodies is fine as long as the original is acknowledged. In this one it's more like extracting than copying.

He don't have to prove it bcuz he didn't copy or steal it..The scratches might
go along with a similar tempo or any Other similar thing..But I can assure you that IT IS NOT FROM JESSIE'S SCRATCHS..

Even If he want to use the same scratch .. he would contact Colombia records and Request for proper permission before using it in his song without any hesitation..
Specially When it comes to a song in an album which he released under UNIVERSAL RECORDS.

Realasing an album under a label like universal records is far more complex than we see.. they have to pay big $$ for the label..followed by many regulations, conditions and terms...

relevent authorities in the company inspects the album before release..If there were such thing they'ld have noticed it. And they won't let the Track to be included in his album.Cuz it causes damage and legal problems to the company..Not the artist..
But this track IS IN HIS ALBUM..Passed every single inspection..

the song is called "cancion del mariachi" .. Played by a group called "Los Lobos"..Most popular as a soundtrack from the movie desperado.Now this is real copying...

Why don't you do it and show they are different? This is the argument made by many people who want cover up their friends. Question has taken a 180º turn and now both of you have to prove your points. Tunes of "Preethi preethi" and "Mata sithanna ba" are identical. Doesn't matter because it is now in the public domain, after 56 years of production.

Now what is their level of understanding about SL music? Near zero I feel. Copies from Lankan musicians will go unnoticed on these tracks.
