yeah Core 2 Quad is great cause it has 4 Cores /and some Intel techs to speed up the gaming performance like Virtulization, and 45nm core architecture
additionally u got these following benefits
i will explain them one by one no need to copy and paste shits
Quad Core Processors has 4 Cores and upto 3GHz Speed which means u got 3*4 =12GHz Speed parallely and most suitable for games and high end applications and calculations such as Maya,3D Max and for game developing companies also Quad core got these features
Quad Core
Smart Memory Access
this improves the performance by using the maximum available bandwidth
there is the thing which is the data flows processor to ram and ram to processor ,the processed data(information) flows from the processor to RAM and unprocessed data flows from RAM TO processor which u can mostly see in high end applications such as some games which is really CPU dependable like GTA IV though it happens in every application barely. the most of stored data in hard disk flows to the RAM when u see the loading screen then those will be stored in RAM so in the game those will be processed and which is faster than access to the hard disk every time which is called buffering and the flowing is called data streaming
if u learned about C++ u may already know about streaming and buffering which is widely used in DirectX /OpenGL programming especially process AI behavior ,calculate particles ,etc.. so if there is any performance penalty between the path of processor and the RAM u can't see any performance improvement so this technology optimize the performance by using available bandwidth. it means the speed between the RAM and the Processor.
Advanced Smart Cache,
so when those data send to the processor processor won't process those data once received. it stores in the cache memory which comes 256kB,512kB to 12MB and in Core i 7 it's really high and first process one and send back to the RAM so it takes those data from the cache memory one by one of the processor NOT directly from the RAM which even improve the performance ,now u got 2 memories ,first system memory and second cache memory of the processor ,this technology improves the performance by optimizing those cache memory which u can see only in Multi Core processors though caching is available in very processor.
Wide Dynamic Execution
the speed is known as the CLOCK speed example if u takes 3.2GHz speed it's the clock speed of the processor so the clock cycle means the one trip of the data flowing RAM to Processor it sends instructions to execute those data in the processor so this technolgoy send lot of instructions per clock cycle to reduce the time so RAM doesn't need to send always ,it likes a big lorry ,now think there is a road u can put ur stuffs onto a lorry and carry them to another destination but what will happen if that lorry doesn't have space to carry ur rest of stuffs then u need to come back to get them.
so this tech likes a big lorry that means u can carry more stuffs to ur destination which save energy of the lorry and the time.
in processor wise it improves the time /performance cause less clock cycles and reduce the power cause u only go less clock cycles/
Dual Core
Wide Dynamic Execution -> see above
Advanced Smart Cache -> see above
Advanced Digital Media Boost
in Intel Processors they got SSE/SSE2/SSE3 which is for multimedia benefits and Dual Core improves the performance when it meets those instructions.
i3
HT Technology
i3 Comes with 2 Cores same as Dual Core and Core 2 Duo so it allows for HT which is abbreviation for Hyper Threading which u could also see in Early Pentium 4 Processors now it was deprecated I think cause in newest process family called Wolfdale this doesn't have anyway this does allows for process the two tasks parallely in both cores so it improves the performance but increase the power consumptions ,BUT remember u can only get the optimize performance if ur applications also was developed for Multicores like gaming of course.
Smart Cache -> See above
Core 2 Duo
Dynamic Execution -> see above
Smart Memory Access -> see above
Advanced Smart Cache -> see above
as the conclusion u can get more performace from Dual Core and Core 2 Duo if u think about the cost ,cause cost and the performace both in one family consider those brands ,of course now every processor from intel comes with 64bit so I just omited that ,so you are ready for 64bit Operating Systems,
the advatages of the 64bit Processor is it allows to process more data bits
which is equal to (2^63)-1 signed value
so it can take 1s and 0s per one cycle this amount
9223372036854775807
but 32bit can take only
(2^31)-1
2147483647 this amount which is slower than 64bit that's why 64bit applications are faster than 32bit applications where there is heavy calculations involoved
everyone knows 1s and 0s represent the data so I won't teach that here.
now when compare withe Core i3 and Dual Core and Core 2 Duo
u can see i3 is better cause it has HT and rest of two is better when caching(bit i3 has this too) and executions is important ,for gaming multi processing is very important so i3 is better when u think about the gaming wise
if the game was optmized for HT(remember i3 is like an early pentium 4 processor but with 2 Cores that means over clocked Pentium 4 Extreem processor can come close to i3) unless u still get relatively low performace
i3 is a best selection for games if u consider the ur cost cause i3 made for games I think but it still has 2 Cores so u won't see big performace improvement which is slghtly and good for getting 8 to 10 frame rate or more depend on the processor invloving(like i3 is best of GTA IV over Core 2 Duo) when u set all details in max,but for designig works Dual Core is better cause u won't use always the 2 Cores ,u use the RAM MORE
that's why for desnginers they need 4GB ,lot of System Memoery
most of times their processor is idle. in gaming every moment the processor is used but in designing it uses RAM not the processor very much.
so HT is useless. only think u need is the fast execution time to get the fast respond which is very important for a designer.
Quad Core is another topic it's great for every thing but for mostly games and high end applications since Quad Core has every tech that even u can see in other processors Quad Core is better than every processor even than i3 cause i3 has 2 Cores and Quad Core has 4 Cores but remember it might be depend on consider the clock speed like if u have a 2.0GHz Quad Core Processor and a Over clocked 4.0Ghz Dual Core Processor can even come close to Quad Core cause both's speed is same.
as the recommendation I suggest everyone Dual Core cause it is better think in
cost wise but it has litte bit performace trouble in gaming
but if u can spend little bit more i3 is most suitable cause it has HT and great for playing Quad Core recommened games and applications ,i3 is not good when consider the cost cause the motherboard is expansive than normal motherboard if u ARE NOT A gamer i3 is unncessary and Dual Core is most suitable
the only different between Core 2 Duo and Dual Core is early Core 2 Duo supported 64bit and 45nm architecture but now Walfdale family brings those two into the Dual Core family so only the power consumption wise the Core 2 Duo is better.
but it doesn't matter if u has rest of specs like graphic card and the RAM.
u can also overclock the procssor bus speed upto 20MHz from what u currently have
the clock speed count multiplier*bus speed
so if there has 13 multipliers and the bus speed is 100 u can get
1300MHz Speed so by increasing the bus speed u can increase the clock speed ,remember multipliers are constants.
two save ur cost use high/mid end graphic card such as x6/x9 example
nvidia 290,260,460,480,560,580 likewise and more system memory since
64bit supported more than 4GB RAM installing a 64bit OS is suitable when u have a 64bit supported processor in these days most of prcoessors are 64bit supported.

I typed lot now I am tried see ya later.
