The Chief Mt. Lavinia Magistrate today warned a CID officer and told him not to attempt to deceive the Court or arrest innocent people while the real culprit is allowed to go scot free.

Mt. Lavinia Chief Magistrate Harsha Sethunga told the CID officer handling an alleged fraud case that he will be placed on the dock if he fails to carry out his duties properly.

Advising the CID officer further, the Magistrate questioned the questioned used in arresting persons purely on statements given by individuals.

The Magistrate questioned the CID officer if he was not ashamed to set culprits free while keeping innocent people in custody without conducting proper investigations.

He told the officer not to purse investigations if he is unable to find the truth.

I feel sorry for the poor policeman. He must have got orders from the top. When he carried out orders, he got scolded by the Magistrate.

Ralahamy, kochchiyata bella thiyanna. Wena monawa karannada?
