Stumbled upon an interesting site https://techsalary.lk/

Just browsing through it I see a hell of a lot of disparity between levels and salaries. Some SEs earn shit load more than Tech Leads

Well think there are the following scenarios

1. Fuckers who work for overseas companies and get paid in that currency --> highest paid
2. Fuckers who work for pegged salary companies but get paid in LKR --> who are in the middle
4. Fuckers who are still get paid in LKR but and don't have salaries pegged --> Least paid

I don't think there are a lot of fake salaries. Most of the higher salaries should be from Engineers working for foreign companies from Sri Lanka

That can be the reason Software Engineer & Senior Software Engineer roles have higher salaries than Tech leads & Architects
Because most foreign companies hire for Software Engineers & Senior Software Engineers

Very soon most of the non-pegged companies will be left with few losers who are not competent enough to get into another place.

If the company invoices the clients in USD they should not have any reason to not peg the salaries to USD, all the reasons they give against it is utter bullshit!! just get out of such places. asap.

That same problem exists with companies that provide IT services (Nable, MIT, JIT, KBSL etc etc). They too quote in USD (but mostly get paid in the equivalent of LKR). They too haven't pegged the salaries from what I hear. And the excuse is that they are getting paid in LKR as the currency.

Fucking bull shit. My personal opinion is that they are using it as an excuse to increase the net profit by retaining the increased LKR due to the exchange rates and keeping the costs low by not changing the salaries accordingly.

It is fair to not peg if you earn LKR.

My point is if you invoice in USD/EUR/GBP and get paid in foreign currency (companies who provide services for foreign clients and local clients who pay in foreign currency) there is no reason not to peg.
