A raster scan is a method of generating images by sweeping an electron beam across a screen from left to right, top to bottom, to illuminate pixels, while an LCD is a type of display technology that uses liquid crystals, color filters, and a backlight to display an image. Unlike older CRT monitors that directly implemented the raster scan pattern, modern LCD panels don't scan the image row by row; instead, they load data for each row and then display it all at once.
